Visit the Biltmore Estate
The Biltmore is one of the most popular attractions in Asheville. It’s the largest privately owned home in the United States, so it’s safe to say you can spend a whole day there if you want to! Built during the Gilded Age, it harkens back to the 1800s—a time of true grandeur in the United States. The land covers over 8,000 acres and the château includes 250 rooms.
The estate welcomes you to explore unbelievably spacious rooms, breathtaking views, and the garden and grounds, not to mention the on-site winery with free wine tastings. One of our favorite parts of the Biltmore is its stunning gardens. There are over 20 miles of hiking trails onsite, as well as six gardens brimming with vibrant waves of color. Of course, what you’ll see in the garden depends on the season, but there’s something beautiful at all times of year.

Enjoy Some Live Music
Asheville is well-known for its wonderful live music scene. Whether you’re avid music fans or want to try something new, we’re positive you’ll find a band to love here. The Orange Peel and The Grey Eagle are great spots to catch better-known acts, but you can still usually find tickets fairly close to the show date. For lesser-known acts, check out The Odd or 5 Walnut Wine Bar.
Attend a Local Farmers Market
If you’re visiting in the spring or summer (or even early fall), peruse a local market together! Asheville has an abundance of charming farmers markets to choose from, so no matter what day or time you’re looking to go, there’s sure to be a good fit for your schedule. From hand-crafted furniture and jewelry to home-grown vegetables, there’s just something romantic about supporting local business.

Explore the River Arts District (RAD)
While the River Arts District suffered significant damage due to Hurricane Helene in 2024, we’re happy to report that it is “open and stronger than ever”, according to their website. The community has art from over 700 artists, all on proud display. Check out local galleries, try an art class of your own, and consider donating to the hurricane recovery fund!
